HOUSTON, TX – A daring attempted burglary at a northwest Houston gun store was thwarted early Wednesday morning when a security guard opened fire on the would-be thieves. The incident occurred at HTX Tactical, where masked assailants tried to smash their way into the store using a pickup truck as a battering ram.
Store owners report that the suspects, dressed in black and wearing masks, approached the store around 1:30 a.m. Surveillance footage captured the moment when the burglars used their vehicle in an attempt to breach the storefront. However, their efforts were quickly interrupted by the alert security guard on duty.
The security guard, who was on a 24-hour watch, responded promptly by firing seven shots at the intruders. The gunfire forced the suspects to abandon their plan and flee the scene, leaving the pickup truck behind just a block away from the store.
Despite the damage to the storefront, estimated at around $6,000, the burglars were unable to access any firearms. HTX Tactical owners have implemented stringent safety measures, ensuring that all weapons are securely locked away each night. “We take every precaution to make sure our firearms don’t fall into the wrong hands,” one of the owners explained.
This incident marks another attempt to break into the store, which has been targeted before. However, thanks to the security measures in place, no weapons were accessible to the criminals during this latest break-in attempt.
The Houston Police Department has been notified and is currently investigating. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspects or the incident to come forward.
Community members in the area have expressed concern over the repeated attempts at the store, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and enhanced security measures in the neighborhood.
As the investigation continues, HTX Tactical remains committed to maintaining the safety of its premises and ensuring that their firearms do not end up in the wrong hands.
