Threats, No Explosives Found in Bomb Threats Against 4 Connecticut House Democrats During Thanksgiving – FBI Investigates

Wolcott, Connecticut – Four out of the five House representatives from Connecticut were targeted by bomb threats on the US Thanksgiving holiday. Representatives Jahana Hayes, Jim Himes, John Larson, and Joe Courtney, all Democrats, reported being notified by local police about the threats. Fortunately, no evidence of explosives was found in any of the cases. The fifth representative, Rosa DeLauro, did not receive a warning.

These bomb threats follow a series of similar hoax threats made against nominees for President Donald Trump’s cabinet and his White House team. Nine individuals chosen by Trump to lead various departments, including defense, housing, agriculture, labor, and the US ambassador to the United Nations, received warnings earlier in the week. Law enforcement agencies are currently looking into these incidents.

On Thanksgiving Day, Representatives Himes, Himes, and Larson publicly acknowledged being contacted by the police regarding the potential threats. Representative Hayes released a statement expressing gratitude for the swift response of law enforcement and emphasized that investigations are ongoing. Representative Courtney and his wife also extended their thanks to law enforcement for their vigilance in addressing the threats.

The FBI has not provided any immediate comments on the incidents. Representative DeLauro, the only member of the Connecticut House delegation who did not receive a threat, has not issued any statements in response to the situation. These threats occurred as millions of Americans were celebrating Thanksgiving, which is known for being one of the busiest travel periods in the country.

Similar hoax tactics have been used against other prominent political figures in recent times, including judges and prosecutors involved in cases related to Trump. Last year, politicians from both parties across the US were targeted in a phenomenon known as swatting during the Christmas period. These incidents serve as a reminder of the challenges faced by public figures in maintaining their safety and security.
