Three masked men rob an armored car

SAN ANTONIO, TX – In a bold daylight heist, masked assailants targeted an armored truck outside a busy shopping center in San Antonio, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The robbery occurred just after noon at the Wood Lake Shopping Center, sending shockwaves through the community as authorities scrambled to apprehend the perpetrators.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded when three masked individuals, cloaked in hoodies, ambushed an armored truck employee as he serviced an ATM. The suspects reportedly brandished a long firearm, catching the worker off guard and demanding he surrender the cash he was handling.

The heist was executed with precision and speed, suggesting that the suspects were well-prepared and knew exactly when and where to strike. The employee, who was kneeling and focused on his task, had little time to react before being forced to comply with the robbers’ demands.

Following the robbery, the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, prompting deputies to issue an immediate alert for the getaway car. Not long after, authorities discovered an abandoned vehicle nearby, believed to have been used by the robbers to make their escape.

In a significant breakthrough, deputies located a discarded ATM cash box and the employee’s stolen firearm on the side of FM 78, just a short distance from the crime scene. Despite these findings, the suspects remain at large, and investigators are working tirelessly to track them down.

The sheriff’s office is exploring the possibility that the robbery might be linked to a similar incident that took place in the vicinity last year. Investigators are examining whether this could be the work of the same group, given the similarities in the execution of the crime.

Deputies are currently analyzing surveillance footage from the area in hopes of identifying the culprits. They are also seeking any potential fingerprints from the recovered ATM box that could provide crucial leads in the investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is appealing to the public for assistance, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in solving such crimes.
