Three people killed in argument over hunting land

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. – Authorities reported a shocking crime in Spartanburg County, where three men were found dead in a wooded vicinity near Woodruff on Friday. The investigation was initiated following a shooting incident at a location off West Georgia Road around 9 p.m.

The deceased, identified as Paul Higgins, 38, and Jeremy Faulkner, 34, both from Woodruff, and Nicolas Long, 22, from Greenville, were discovered by the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office and the sheriff’s deputies in a region of woodland. Preliminary findings from a forensic examination coupled with the ongoing investigation led by the sheriff’s office indicated that the three deaths were the result of gunshot wounds.

In addition to the three deceased individuals, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office revealed a fourth victim, reportedly shot and transported to a Simpsonville hospital in a personal vehicle prior to the arrival of deputies at the scene.

Early testimonies from witnesses suggested that the deadly shooting was a result of a dispute over the authorization to use a piece of hunting land. Some of the victims’ family members reportedly witnessed the incident and interacted with authorities over the weekend as part of the investigation.

The case remains ongoing, and the sheriff’s office anticipates releasing additional information pending consultation with the solicitor’s office.
