Times Square Shooter Manhunt Ends in Arrest

(AbsoluteNews.com) – On Saturday, May 8, a shooting in Times Square wounded two women and a 4-year-old girl. All three victims were wounded in their extremities and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Witnesses said the shooting occurred after a dispute between two to four men. Officers spent the next few days looking for the alleged shooter and now they believe they’ve found him.

Members of the NYPD’s Regional Fugitive Task Force and US Marshals arrested Farrakhan Muhammad, 31, in Starke, Florida on Wednesday. The alleged shooter was sitting in a car with a woman believed to be his girlfriend, Kristine Vergara, outside of a McDonald’s when he was nabbed.

NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig told the New York Post that multiple people called Crimestoppers to give officers tips on the suspect. He said they were “instrumental in the identification” of the alleged shooter. Police have charged Muhammad with assault and felony robbery charges. It’s unclear if he’ll be charged with other crimes or if he’s going to be extradited to New York.
