Toddler found safe after Detroit abduction

DETROIT, MI – A 1-year-old girl, the subject of an Amber Alert issued overnight, has been located unharmed after a harrowing abduction incident on Detroit’s west side.

The alert was triggered following the abduction of the toddler by four men who fatally shot an individual and then fled the scene. The incident occurred at approximately 10:09 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, near the intersection of Compass Avenue and Littlefield Street.

According to authorities, the suspects arrived in a newer model gray Dodge Durango. They confronted a man who was with the young child and a woman, ultimately killing him before taking the child and escaping.

The child was found safe shortly after the alert was issued, but the suspects and the vehicle remain at large. Police are actively searching for the Dodge Durango, which bears the license plate number EAD 187.
