Tragic News: Former Boise State Gymnastics Champion Dies After Giving Birth – Our Hearts Go Out to Her Family

BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State University community mourns the loss of a former gymnast and nurse, Hailey Okula, who tragically passed away over the weekend of March 29-30. Hailey, known as “Nurse Hailey,” died due to complications following the birth of her first child, Crew, as confirmed by her husband on social media.

Hailey’s husband expressed profound grief in an emotional Instagram post, describing her as a remarkable wife with qualities of beauty, intelligence, and loyalty. The Boise State gymnastics team also paid tribute to Hailey by sharing a photo of her in the team’s orange and blue colors on its official Facebook page.

During her time on the university gymnastics team from 2010-2012, Hailey achieved notable success, earning two All-WAC first team honors and contributing to the team’s victory at the 2011 WAC Championships. After her university years, Hailey pursued a career in nursing in California, where she dedicated herself to helping new nurses through her business, RN New Grads.

In 2019, Hailey launched the RN New Grads program to provide support and guidance to newly graduated nurses, recognizing the challenges faced by those entering the medical field. Her compassionate work and dedication to nursing resonated with many, reflected in her substantial social media following across various platforms.

Despite her untimely passing, Hailey’s legacy lives on through her son, Crew, whom she loved unconditionally before his arrival. Her husband fondly remembers her as a figure of boundless love, courage, and kindness, traits that will continue to impact all those whose lives she touched.

In the wake of this tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been established to support Hailey’s family during this difficult time. The Boise State University community stands together in remembrance of Hailey’s remarkable spirit and enduring legacy.
