Bettendorf, Iowa – Fans of the popular History Channel show, “American Pickers,” are mourning the loss of co-star Frank Fritz, who passed away at the age of 60. Fritz’s friend and former co-host, Mike Wolfe, broke the news of his death on social media.
Wolfe described Fritz as a sensitive dreamer with a great sense of humor, both on and off-camera. The two shared a passion for exploring unknown places together and uncovering interesting historical artifacts.
Fritz had been battling health issues, including Crohn’s disease and a recent stroke in 2022. Despite his struggles, he continued to co-host “American Pickers” for 20 full seasons, from 2010 to 2021, before making fewer appearances due to reported conflicts with Wolfe.
In his tribute, Wolfe expressed gratitude for being by Fritz’s side during his final moments and reminisced about their shared adventures on the show. Despite their differences, Wolfe’s brother, Robbie, eventually replaced Fritz as co-host, and the two had reportedly reconciled by 2023.
Danielle Colby, the manager of Wolfe’s shop, Antique Archaeology, also paid tribute to Fritz, highlighting his ability to make people laugh and his love for family and his cat. Colleagues like “Jersey Jon” and representatives from The History Channel and Cineflix Productions released statements honoring Fritz’s contributions to the show.
Fritz’s representative, Bill Stankey, praised him as an exceptional human being with a deep knowledge of Americana and antiques. He emphasized Fritz’s impact on his loved ones and fans, underscoring his importance as an anchor of “American Pickers.”
Despite his passing, Fritz’s memory lives on through the heartfelt tributes from his friends, colleagues, and fans. The legacy of his adventurous spirit and passion for history will continue to inspire viewers of the beloved show for years to come.
