(AbsoluteNews.com) – Earlier this month, the Hong Kong security law went into effect handing China more control of the people in the city. The international community was outraged by the move and so was the US. Now, President Donald Trump is taking action against the communist country.
On July 14, Trump signed a bill that sanctioned Chinese officials over the security law. The bill targets both banks and people in the country that interfered in Hong Kong’s affairs.
In addition to the bill, the president signed an executive order that ends preferential treatment for Hong Kong because the security law means it “is no longer sufficiently autonomous to justify differential treatment.”

The goal is to hold China accountable for its assault on Hong Kong’s freedoms. The communists want to take control of the region. Since his election, President Trump has made it clear he will be tough on officials in Beijing, and this is another step in that direction.
