Couple Investigated for Protecting Home

Couple Investigated for Protecting Home

(UnitedVoice.com) – On Sunday, June 28, a St. Louis couple took home security into their own hands. They defended themselves and their home by carrying guns after feeling threatened by an armed fringe group embedded with protestors on private property. Demonstrators broke through the gated entry to their neighborhood to protest at the house of the St. Louis mayor. Some of the protestors yelled they were going to kill the couple, burn down their home, and kill their dog. Now, a prosecutor is investigating the actions of the couple, saying she must protect the rights of peaceful protestors.

However, is breaking through a gate labeled “no trespassing” and “private property” peaceful? Is an armed fringe group wearing bulletproof vests and caring weapons peaceful? Do the couple in question have a right to defend themselves and their property if they feel intimidated or threatened? The couple says they support the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, and as attorneys, have donated time to helping minorities protect their civil rights.

The couple called the St. Louis Police. In the police report, officers called the incident a case of trespassing and assault by intimidation by protestors.
