US Military Not Ready to Deal With Crisis, Respected Think Tank Finds

( – America has been at war for the last two decades. One might expect the US military to be ready to deal with a crisis, but a new report indicates the Armed Forces are in poor shape.

On Tuesday, October 19, the Heritage Foundation released its 2022 Index of US Military Strength. The conservative think tank found the military could probably respond to a single conflict, but “would be ill-equipped to handle two nearly simultaneous” crises.

The report found that China, North Korea, Russia, and Iran all pose “high” threats to the US. That’s the second-highest threat level on the foundation’s scale. Although Russia is a threat to US interests in Europe, the Chinese government poses “the most comprehensive threat” to America. Recently, China demonstrated that potential danger by allegedly testing a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile.

Heritage Foundation officials also rated the readiness of each branch of the US military. The Marine Corps was the only branch to receive a “strong rating.” The Space Force and Air Force were both rated weak. The Army and Navy received “marginal” ratings. At a time when the US faces threats from around the globe, that’s not very reassuring.

What is President Joe Biden going to do about the low states of military readiness and the potential need to protect citizens?
