US Military Shares Concerns Over China’s Growing Military, Nuclear Stockpile

( – In October, the Chinese military allegedly launched a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile. The missile circled the earth at a low altitude in space before it hit its target. The Pentagon is now warning that the communist country’s military is growing rapidly.

On Wednesday, November 3, the Department of Defense released the 2021 China Military Power Report and the findings were troubling. According to the report, the Chinese government will increase its nuclear stockpile by at least 500% over the next decade. The report estimates the nation will have at least 1,000 deliverable nuclear warheads at that time. Previous estimates put that number at 400.

The Defense Department is also worried about the expansion of the Chinese Navy. The country has 360 ships currently and it believes the number will increase to 425 by 2030. To put that into perspective, the US currently operates 297 ships.

The report also found the Chinese government is using autonomous systems and cyber technologies to gain a leg up on the US. The country is becoming a threat to America’s interests in the Indo-Pacific region. What’s more frightening is China has made it clear it wants Taiwan to “unite” with it. With the strength of the communist country’s military, it poses a real threat to peace.
