Warner Bros’ “One Battle After Another” Moved to Fall Release – Leonardo DiCaprio’s Crime Thriller Hits Theaters Sept. 26

Los Angeles, California – Warner Bros. made significant changes to its film release schedule, with notable updates on highly anticipated projects. One such film is the upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson movie, now officially titled “One Battle After Another,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio. This American crime thriller was originally set for an August 8 release but will now hit nationwide theaters on September 26.

Insiders familiar with the Anderson project revealed that the studio’s decision to postpone the release was to equip U.S. theaters with VistaVision projection systems to better convey the director’s vision. Moving the film from August to late September strategically positions “One Battle After Another” closer to the awards season, a sweet spot known to benefit auteur-driven films with commercial appeal. The star-studded cast includes DiCaprio alongside Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Regina Hall, and Teyana Taylor.

In addition to the Anderson movie, Warner Bros. also announced changes to other projects on its slate. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Bride!” starring Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley will now see its release moved from this September to March 6, 2026. This steampunk twist on Frankenstein’s monster and his spouse aligns the film for a theatrical rollout distinct from Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Frankenstein adaptation.

Director Zach Cregger’s horror feature “Weapons,” featuring Josh Brolin and Julia Garner, was initially set for a January 2026 release but will now be hitting theaters on August 8. The rescheduled date aligns with the global premiere of the film’s footage at Las Vegas’ CinemaCon, showcasing Warner Bros.’ confidence in Cregger’s latest work. Another mysterious project, “Flowervale Street” starring Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, and Maisy Stella, will now debut on August 14, 2026, offering a glimpse into a family’s peculiar experiences in their ‘80s neighborhood.

Lastly, Warner Bros. Animation’s adaptation of “The Cat in the Hat” will arrive in theaters two weeks earlier, on February 27 next year. The film, featuring the voices of Bill Hader and Quinta Brunson, will now have some space from Pixar’s “Hoppers,” slated for release a week later. These strategic reshufflings in Warner Bros.’ release schedule indicate a deliberate effort to optimize the performance and reception of its diverse lineup of films.
