Police were called to a big box store in Bangor, Maine, on Saturday night for an alleged abduction that took place. As part of an effort to kidnap a woman, the suspect allegedly shoved her into a storage truck and drove away.
Around 10 pm, the incident unfolded outside a Target store in Bangor. News Center Maine, NECN, and the Bangor Daily News report that multiple witnesses saw Colby Cooper, 21, push a woman into his U-Haul rental.
In the aftermath of the incident, witnesses who followed the vehicle reported it leaving the parking lot and called the police when they no longer had sight of it.
As Cooper’s vehicle traveled southbound on Interstate 95 south, police spotted it. According to police, he was arrested and incarcerated at the Penobscot County Jail.
According to News Center Maine, he now faces charges of kidnapping, eluding, and domestic violence assault.
Minor injuries were sustained by the victim, and she was treated for those injuries. The police have not yet identified her. Currently, no other details have been released.
As of now, it is unclear whether Cooper has retained an attorney or whether he has entered a plea to the charges against him.
