Woman On Bike Trail In Phoenix Finds Body Stuffed In Luggage

Body Found On Trail

A Phoenix bicyclist discovered a body inside a container early on Saturday morning, Sept. 17.

The discovery was made in a heavily trafficked hiking area near Cave Creek Road and Tatum Boulevard.

She described seeing a head sticking out of large luggage covered in blood.

According to Phoenix Police, the body has not been identified.

When she first saw the body, the woman recalled thinking, “I think that was a dead body, so I should call 911.”

The Cave Creek woman noticed something strange as she rode her bike along the same trail as she always does.

“As I drove down this dirt road, I saw this suitcase on the side of the road that looked like junk. I thought well, I’ll look at it more,” she said.

About 100 yards off the main road, when it was light out, she saw what she described as a large flat suitcase sticking out of a public trail on state land.

“When I looked at it, I saw a head. It was wet, and I noticed what looked like a knee or leg,” she said.

Officers from the Phoenix Police Department responded immediately to the incident, and crime scene tape and detectives surrounded the area well into Saturday night.

“They said, ‘Yep, dead body,’ so I asked, ‘Is it a man or a woman?'” she said. The police said it was a woman.

According to neighbors, the trail is highly trafficked, so the body couldn’t have been there for long.

According to Allison Pulec, she also walks that trail every day, but took a shorter route this time or could have stumbled upon it by chance.

She said, “There are so many people walking animals out here from four in the morning until 11 at night. I’m sure it would have been found pretty quickly.”.
