Stamford, Connecticut – Prior to Night One of WrestleMania 41, it was announced by the WWE that Bayley would not be competing in her scheduled match on Night Two. Originally set to team up with Lyra Valkyria to challenge Women’s Tag Team champions Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez, Bayley was written out of the match after allegedly being attacked by an unknown individual or group. As a result, Valkyria was granted until the following night to find a new partner.
Reports from PWInsider Elite suggest that Bayley’s absence from the event was planned well in advance, despite the fact that she is reportedly in good health. Speculation has arisen regarding the possibility of Valkyria reaching out to Becky Lynch, a former WWE star, to fill the vacant spot. Lynch has been on a hiatus since losing the Women’s World title to Morgan in a steel cage match last year.
This turn of events could be disappointing for Bayley, especially considering her memorable victory at WrestleMania last year when she won the Women’s title from IYO SKY. Just a year prior, Bayley was left off the WrestleMania 37 card and faced ridicule from The Bellas. She then missed out on the following year’s event due to a knee injury. Securing a spot at WrestleMania is highly coveted, reserved for only the top stars in the WWE.
Following Bayley’s removal from the WrestleMania 41 line-up, AEW’s Mercedes Moné took to social media to express her thoughts. Moné, who has a history with Bayley dating back to their time as Sasha Banks and Mercedes in NXT, has publicly stated her desire to collaborate with Bayley once again. Their previous partnership in WWE was reportedly cut short due to disagreements over a Tag title run.
Mercedes Moné’s message received a mixed reaction from fans, particularly due to the involvement of both AEW and WWE, two rival wrestling companies. The post sparked discussions about potential future collaborations between the two friends and their respective wrestling careers. Whether this will lead to any actual developments or if it was simply good-natured banter remains to be seen.
