Zelle App Shut Down: Here’s How to Keep Sending Money Fast and Easy!

Atlanta, Georgia – Zelle, a leading digital payment service in the United States, has made a significant move by discontinuing its standalone mobile app. This change, however, does not signify the end of the money transferring service for its users.

Last year, Zelle revealed that only a small fraction of transactions, amounting to 2%, actually occurred within their mobile app. The majority of users instead opted to access the service through their respective bank’s website or app. Launched in 2017, the app initially aimed to compete with other popular money-transferring platforms such as Venmo, Cash App, and Apple Pay. Presently, Zelle is utilized by over 2,000 banks and credit unions across the country.

The company emphasized that utilizing Zelle through a bank app will remain unaffected by the app’s closure. Transactions can still be carried out seamlessly via Zelle, as long as the user engages with the service through their respective bank’s digital platform.

According to Zelle, the small percentage of consumers who exclusively used the stand-alone app will need to re-enroll through their financial institution to continue using the service. On the other hand, individuals who primarily accessed Zelle through their banking institution will not encounter any disruptions due to this change.
