Los Angeles, California – The popular series “Agatha All Along” saw a surge in viewership for its final two episodes on Wednesday.
According to Disney, Episode 8 of the series garnered 4.6 million views after one day of streaming, marking a 48% increase from the premiere. Similarly, Episode 9 experienced a 26% increase from the premiere, with 3.9 million views. Disney, in line with Netflix, defines views as total stream time divided by runtime.
The drop in viewership for the finale could be attributed to the unique release strategy of dropping two episodes on Disney+ simultaneously, unlike the typical one-episode release. However, there is still a strong indication of sustained interest, given that Episode 8 performed better than the previous episode, which garnered 4.2 million views in one day.
Data for the premiere episode’s one-day performance was not disclosed. Instead, Disney revealed that the first episode accumulated approximately 9.3 million views in 7 days.
The series made a significant impact on the Nielsen streaming charts during its initial weeks before gradually tapering off after Episode 4. Viewership decreased in the second week, with 365 million minutes viewed compared to over 400 million in the prior week. This decline could be attributed to the release of two episodes in the series’ premiere week, leading to more total runtime available for viewing. Nonetheless, only one new episode was released weekly thereafter, with episodes being on the shorter side, placing the series at a disadvantage on the Nielsen charts.
Disney+ does not regularly disclose viewership data for all series, making it challenging to compare the performance of “Agatha All Along” with other shows. The platform released five-day tallies for “The Acolyte” and “Ahsoka,” while “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” received a six-day report.
In “Agatha All Along,” viewers follow the journey of Agatha Harkness after being freed from a distorted spell by a mysterious teen. Intrigued by the teen’s request to accompany him on the legendary Witches’ Road, Agatha embarks on a magical quest with a desperate coven, facing trials along the way to discover what they are missing.
