Approximately 50,000 tickets have been canceled by the tour promoters Live Nation and SJM, as they crack down on tickets being sold through unofficial secondary sites at inflated prices. This move comes as a blow to fans who missed out on purchasing tickets during the initial sale.
Oasis, a popular band known for hits such as “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova,” announced their reunion tour after a decade-long hiatus. The demand for tickets was overwhelming, with 1.4 million tickets going live for purchase, and 10 million fans worldwide eager to secure a spot at one of the concerts.
After the tickets sold out, some opportunistic scalpers took advantage of the situation by reselling tickets on secondary sites like Viagogo at exorbitant prices. Some tickets were reportedly priced as high as $7,294, causing frustration among fans who were unable to buy tickets at face value.
In response to this issue, Live Nation and SJM made the decision to cancel the tickets purchased through unauthorized resale sites. These canceled tickets will be put back up for sale on Ticketmaster, the official platform owned by Live Nation, where fans can purchase them at the original price.
