**Shooting Scare at North Kansas City High School** – Law Enforcement Responds to Incident During Basketball Game

North Kansas City, Missouri – Law enforcement agencies rushed to North Kansas City High School on Saturday night following an incident that occurred during a basketball game outside of the school. The North Kansas City Police Department, along with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and Missouri State Highway Patrol, were all involved in responding to the situation.

According to a letter sent to parents by North Kansas City School District officials, the shooting took place on the east side of the school building. The North Kansas City Hornets were scheduled to compete against the Staley Falcons in the Class 6 District 8 High School Basketball Tournament that evening. Additionally, a debate tournament was also set to take place at the high school.

District officials mentioned in the letter that police were already at the school in a security role when the shooting occurred and responded promptly. As a result, all individuals inside the building were put on lockdown while the police investigated the incident. Medical assistance was being provided to two to three potential victims at that time.

Authorities confirmed that two individuals were injured in the shooting at the end of the basketball game. The conditions of the victims were reported to be critical, with at least one identified as a juvenile. As of now, no suspects have been taken into custody as the police continue to gather information and investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The scene at North Kansas City High School was blocked off by crime scene tape, as reported by KMBC 9 News crews.
