Speedtop: BMW Unveils the Pinnacle of Luxury and Performance at Lake Como!

Lake Como, Italy — Each year, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este attracts automotive enthusiasts and collectors alike, showcasing some of the most exquisite vehicles in the world. This year, BMW introduced its latest creation, the Concept Speedtop, a stunning wagon that builds on the design legacy of last year’s renowned Skytop model.

The Concept Speedtop shares a resemblance to its predecessor with its striking V-shaped front end and illuminated grille, yet it offers increased practicality with enhanced storage capacity. Radiating style, the Speedtop features a unique color gradient, transitioning from the striking Floating Sunstone Maroon at the front to a subtler Floating Sundown Silver at the rear.

Distinctive design elements define the Speedtop, particularly its central “spline” motif, which extends from the hood over the roof and spoiler. The vehicle rests on custom 14-spoke wheels that were specifically crafted for this model, further complementing its aesthetic appeal.

Inside, the two-tone leather interior showcases a blend of Sundown Maroon and Moonstone White, mirroring the exterior color scheme. Notably, the “spline” design extends into the cabin, with a light beam projected onto the decorative headliner, creating a sophisticated ambiance. The trunk features a split luggage compartment, optimized for space and functionality, complete with custom Schedoni bags designed to fit perfectly.

Beyond its visual allure, the Speedtop promises impressive performance, highlighted by the most powerful V-8 engine currently available from BMW. While specifics remain under wraps, it is widely believed to be powered by the brand’s renowned twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine, likely delivering an exhilarating 617 horsepower, similar to the Skytop.

In an exciting development for collectors, BMW announced it will produce just 70 units of the Speedtop, catering to affluent buyers. While the exact price remains undisclosed, it is expected to be beyond the reach of the average consumer, reinforcing its status as a luxurious and exclusive offering.

Bernd Körber, Senior Vice President of BMW Brand and Product Management, expressed enthusiasm for the new model, noting the positive reception of past concepts and the excitement that surrounds limited production runs. He emphasized the brand’s commitment to delivering exclusive vehicles that captivate enthusiasts and collectors alike.

As the Speedtop makes its world debut at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este this weekend, it stands as a testament to BMW’s ongoing innovation and dedication to automotive excellence, combining both stunning design and impressive performance in a limited-edition package.
