A mother and three daughters were murdered in suburban Chicago

TINLEY PARK, IL – A tragic domestic-related shooting has claimed the lives of a mother and her three adult daughters in suburban Chicago. The victims were identified by the local medical examiner as Majeda Kassem, 53, and her daughters, Halema and Zahia Kassem, both 25, and Hanan Kassem, 24.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, with a male suspect taken into custody at the scene following a 911 call, according to the Tinley Park Public Safety Department. Tinley Park, a village of approximately 55,000 residents, is located about 30 miles southwest of Chicago.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that the suspect is in custody and the scene has been secured. The identity of the man has not been disclosed, but a firearm was recovered from the scene.

Tinley Park Village Manager, Pat Carr, expressed his shock and sadness over the incident, stating that there were no previous calls for police intervention at the residence. Carr noted the significant impact of the tragedy on the community and its residents.

Local residents revealed that two adult sons also resided in the house. Neighbor Charlotte Vaitkus shared her daughter’s connection with the family, stating that her daughter was acquainted with the eldest son and had employed the twin sisters. Vaitkus spoke highly of the family, describing them as intelligent individuals with ambitious life goals.
