Ad Spending War: Biden Dominates Trump in Ad Spending Amid Legal Battles

Washington, D.C. – President Joe Biden and his supporters have significantly outspent former President Donald Trump’s advertising network over the past month and a half. Biden’s campaign and other Democratic advertisers have invested $27.2 million in advertising for the presidential race from March 6 to April 21, nearly tripling the $9.3 million spent by the Trump campaign and GOP advertisers during the same period.

Biden’s team has strategically allocated millions of dollars in key battleground states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Georgia. The ads have focused on promoting the administration’s first-term accomplishments and criticizing Trump on issues like the cost of living and abortion rights. In contrast, Trump’s network has not matched the level of effort put forth by Biden’s campaign since he became the presumptive GOP nominee.

Despite lagging in advertising spending, a pro-Trump super PAC named MAGA Inc. recently increased its ad bookings in Pennsylvania to coincide with Biden’s campaign activities in the state. Additionally, outside groups aligned with the oil and gas industries have spent nearly $3 million on anti-Biden campaigns in states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, targeting California fuel standards supported by the Biden administration.

Recent campaign finance reports show that Biden’s fundraising edge has enabled him to maintain an advertising advantage over Trump. The former president’s ongoing legal issues have drained millions from his campaign coffers, further contributing to the gap in ad spending between the two candidates. Despite some signs of increased activity, Trump’s network continues to face significant challenges in matching the advertising efforts of Biden and Democratic allies.
