Arizona man arrested for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend with a go-kart

A 40-year-old man from Arizona has been taken into custody after allegedly intentionally crashing a “go-kart type” vehicle into an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) being driven by his ex-girlfriend. The incident resulted in the death of the 32-year-old woman.

Authorities in Mohave County, Arizona took 40-year-old John H. Stettler into custody on July 28th. He was arrested for allegedly causing the death of his ex-girlfriend, Sally Minard. Stettler is accused of intentionally crashing a “go-kart type” vehicle into Minard’s all-terrain vehicle (ATV). The incident occurred on July 28th in the area of Driftwood Drive and Boathouse Drive, approximately 250 miles northwest of Phoenix.

Upon receiving a report of a vehicular collision, deputies from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. They discovered Minard, who had sustained severe injuries from the crash. She was immediately transported to a hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, but tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

The investigation into the fatal crash revealed that Stettler, a resident of Meadview, was operating the go-kart vehicle that collided with Minard’s ATV. Although Stettler did not suffer serious injuries, authorities determined that the collision was not a mere accident but a criminal act.

Detectives also uncovered that Minard and Stettler had been in a romantic relationship prior to the deadly crash. The duration of their relationship and the circumstances surrounding its end remain unclear. The investigators have not disclosed how they determined that the crash was intentional.

Following the preliminary investigation, Stettler was taken into custody without incident and charged with second-degree murder. He is currently in police custody at the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility on a $300,000 bond. The sheriff’s office emphasized that the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
