Armorer in Alec Baldwin Shooting Complains About Judge and Jury in Recorded Jail Calls – Will She Get Probation or Jail Time?

Santa Fe, New Mexico – Convicted “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed expressed dissatisfaction with the justice system in recorded jail calls, as detailed in a recent court filing. Gutierrez Reed, found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for her involvement in the tragic shooting on set that led to cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ death, is set to be sentenced on Monday in a Santa Fe courtroom.

Prosecutor Kari Morrissey urged for Gutierrez Reed to receive the maximum sentence of 18 months, citing the content of the recorded calls as evidence of her lack of remorse. In the calls, Gutierrez Reed was heard blaming others and denying her responsibility in the fatal incident.

Among her complaints were derogatory remarks about the jurors and allegations of corruption against the judge. She expressed a desire for Alec Baldwin and the producers to face legal consequences, indicating a lack of personal accountability for her actions.

Gutierrez Reed’s defense team, on the other hand, is advocating for probation, asserting that she has shown remorse for her role in the tragedy. The defense submitted letters from friends attesting to Gutierrez Reed’s regret and character, in hopes of influencing the sentencing decision.

Notably, Gutierrez Reed’s father initiated a GoFundMe campaign to support her appeal process, emphasizing his belief in the unfairness of the judicial treatment towards his daughter. However, the fundraiser was terminated by GoFundMe in compliance with their policy prohibiting fundraising for legal defense related to violent crimes.

The upcoming sentencing hearing will determine the fate of Gutierrez Reed, who remains entangled in the aftermath of the on-set tragedy that shook the film industry. As the legal proceedings unfold, questions of responsibility, accountability, and justice continue to shape the narrative surrounding the “Rust” incident.
