Arrested! How NYC Community Members Heroically Stopped A 25-Year-Old Man From Getting Away After Alleged Rape

In Queens, New York City, community members took action to apprehend a man accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in a local park. Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, 25, faces multiple charges, including rape, robbery, and kidnapping, after the disturbing incident at Kissena Park.

Residents, recognizing Inga-Landi from the neighborhood, held him down using a belt to tie his legs until police arrived. The suspect allegedly threatened the girl and a boy with a knife before assaulting the victim, leading to his arrest early Tuesday morning.

New York Police Department Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny commended the community for their bravery and cooperation, stating that at least 10 individuals spotted the suspect and promptly contacted authorities. Inga-Landi, originally from Ecuador, had no prior record in the city but had legal issues in Texas before arriving in the U.S. in 2021.

The suspect, who admitted to having a drug problem, is being held in custody and received medical treatment for minor injuries sustained during the struggle with community members. Investigators used surveillance footage and tips from Queens residents to identify Inga-Landi, linking him to the crime through social media photos and a distinct tattoo on his chest.

Police officials praised the swift action of both the community and the victims in providing crucial information that aided in the suspect’s apprehension. The NYPD offered a substantial reward of $10,000 for any tips leading to the arrest of Inga-Landi, highlighting the importance of citizen involvement in solving crimes and ensuring public safety.
