AT&T Outage: T-Mobile, Verizon, UScellular and Consumer Cellular also reporting issues

Customers in various parts of the United States woke up this morning to find that their cell service was not working properly. According to the website Downdetector.com, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, UScellular, and Consumer Cellular customers reported widespread outages, with AT&T experiencing the most significant impact.

The issues seemed to have started around 3 a.m. EST and began to subside about three hours later, only to pick up again and reach nearly 39,000 reports by 7 a.m. EST. Additionally, some municipalities reported difficulties with 911 service.

The San Francisco Fire Department confirmed the impact of the outages, but the exact cause is still unknown. CBS News has reached out to all major cell service providers for further information, but as of now, the situation remains unresolved.
