Attempted Murder: Arrested Teen Had Cache of Weapons and Plan to Carry Out School Shooting

ONTARIO, Calif. – An 18-year-old student from Ontario Christian High School has been taken into custody on charges of attempted murder after police uncovered his plans to carry out a school shooting. According to Ontario Police Chief Michael Lorenz, Sebastian Villasenor had amassed a cache of firearms and ammunition with the intention of carrying out the attack.

The arrest came after a fellow student raised concerns about Villasenor’s fixation with school shootings and his access to weapons. The school principal immediately informed the police, leading to Villasenor’s arrest last Saturday.

During a news conference, Chief Lorenz revealed that Villasenor had conducted research on tactical supplies and had been planning the attack, fixating on police response times. Upon his arrest, police found seven rifles, two revolvers, one handgun, and one shotgun in his home, along with over 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

Villasenor had allegedly identified at least five specific students he intended to target, though his motive remains unclear. Although he had not been bullied, he struggled to build relationships with his classmates and was reportedly obsessed with the Columbine shooting. According to police, Villasenor had been considering a date around April 20th, the anniversary of the Columbine shooting, to carry out his attack.

The district attorney’s office has filed five felony charges of attempted murder and one felony charge of attempted criminal threats against Villasenor. However, Chief Lorenz praised the student who alerted the authorities, calling them a hero for potentially saving lives and preventing a devastating act of violence.

School officials expressed gratitude to law enforcement and the student who came forward, emphasizing that their actions helped avert a tragedy. Despite the shocking revelation, Lorenz assured the public that there is no additional threat to students or staff at Ontario Christian High School.
