Biden Campaign Sets New Record for Grassroots Fundraising in January, Defying Expectations and Surging Ahead for 2024 Election Season

Washington, D.C. – President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign is celebrating its highest grassroots fundraising month in January, indicating a surge in enthusiasm among supporters. The campaign has seen a significant increase in small-dollar donations, with the number of people contributing through the campaign’s website doubling in January compared to December. This surge in grassroots contributions has fueled optimism within the campaign, reflecting increased voter engagement.

The campaign has been strategically building a substantial war chest to prepare for the upcoming November election. Biden’s reelection campaign, along with the Democratic Party, ended last year with $117 million, marking the highest cash-on-hand figure for any Democratic candidate at that point in the election cycle. This strong financial position is vital as the campaign prepares to face off against a Republican opponent in the general election.

In addition to the increase in grassroots contributions, the average grassroots donation in the fourth quarter was $41.88, with 97% of all donations being under $200. This highlights the broad base of support for President Biden, with a large number of small-dollar donors contributing to the campaign’s fundraising success.

During a recent visit to his campaign headquarters, President Biden expressed optimism based on new polling showing him with a favorable position against former President Trump. He emphasized the overall momentum of his campaign, stating that “everything’s picking up across the board.”

The significant uptick in grassroots fundraising not only provides the Biden campaign with a strong financial foundation but also signals growing enthusiasm and engagement among his supporters. The campaign’s ability to mobilize and energize its base through grassroots fundraising is a promising sign as the election year progresses.
