Mumbai, India – Indian authorities have apprehended two individuals linked to a criminal gang responsible for a recent gun attack on the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The attack, targeting the popular actor who has starred in over 100 films, stemmed from a long-standing grievance held by the Bishnoi gang over Khan’s past actions, notably the killing of two antelopes more than two decades ago.
The Bishnoi gang, tied to a religious sect that reveres animals such as antelopes, was reportedly angered by Khan’s previous transgressions. Although Khan emerged unscathed from the recent attack, it marks a continuation of threats he has faced in recent years.
The assailants, identified as Vicky Gupta, 24, and Sagar Kumar Palak, 21, were taken into custody in Gujarat after confessing to their involvement in the shooting incident at Khan’s residence in the affluent Bandra neighborhood of Mumbai.
Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the criminal group, orchestrated by incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, had a history of targeting Khan due to the alleged killing of blackbuck antelopes during the filming of a movie in 1998. Despite facing legal repercussions, including a temporary jail sentence for poaching protected animals, Khan has continued to be a target for the gang.
Authorities disclosed that the plan to attack Khan was orchestrated by Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi’s younger brother, who operated from Canada. The intricate details of the plot, including weeks of surveillance on Khan’s whereabouts and renting a nearby apartment for strategic purposes, highlight the extent of the gang’s vendetta against the actor.
Law enforcement officials from multiple states collaborated in a thorough investigation to capture the culprits behind the attack, taking the two suspects into custody for legal proceedings. The detained individuals are scheduled for a court appearance on April 25, as the police work to gather evidence for prosecution.
