The couple, who chronicle their journey on social media, were camping in the Dumka district of Jharkhand when they were attacked. The woman was sexually assaulted by seven men, while the couple was also physically assaulted and robbed.
The harrowing experience was captured in a video where the couple, visibly injured, recounted the ordeal. The woman detailed the brutal assault while her husband described the threats they faced during the attack. Local police have identified all the accused, with four of them confessing to the rape.
Following the assault, the couple sought help from a passing police patrol and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The Spanish embassy in India is assisting local authorities, sending a representative to provide support.
