Cancelation Alert: CBS Axes ‘CSI: Vegas’ and ‘So Help Me Todd’ After Ratings Decline

Las Vegas, Nevada – CBS has decided to cancel two of its drama series, “CSI: Vegas” and “So Help Me Todd,” after three and two seasons, respectively. The network’s decision comes as no surprise, as both shows were on the verge of being axed due to their poor performance. Despite being decent performers in terms of ratings, they were the least-watched CBS drama series during the spring season in both linear and multi-platform ratings.

“CSI: Vegas” and “So Help Me Todd” ranked at number 21 and 22, respectively, among all non-sports broadcast programs in the current Nielsen viewership. The competition for renewal was fierce, with other series on different networks with similar or lower viewership securing renewals for the next season.

In the 35-day multi-platform viewership, “So Help Me Todd” held a slight edge over “CSI: Vegas.” However, there are no plans to move either series to Paramount+ after their CBS cancellations. This decision reflects the network’s need to make room for new additions while managing budget constraints in a challenging advertising market.

The future of CBS’s “NCIS: Hawai’i” remains uncertain, as discussions are ongoing regarding a potential partial Season 4. The show, part of the iconic “NCIS” franchise and the first installment with a female lead, is a top performer in total viewership.

“CSI: Vegas,” a follow-up to the original “CSI” series, featured returning cast members and celebrated its legacy in the franchise. The show’s cancellation marks the end of its run and opens up possibilities for other projects within the CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television collaboration.

On the other hand, “So Help Me Todd” had a remarkable journey from pilot testing to becoming a surprise hit in its debut season. The cast, led by Marcia Gay Harden and Skylar Astin, brought the show to life and garnered early renewal for a second season.

The decision to cancel both series underscores the competitive nature of the television industry and the constant need for networks to balance established hits with new ventures. As CBS evaluates its programming lineup for the upcoming season, fans will have to bid farewell to “CSI: Vegas” and “So Help Me Todd” while anticipating what the network has in store for the future.
