Paris, France – French industry and press eagerly await Thierry Frémaux’s announcement of the official selection for this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The highly anticipated event is set to take place at the UGC Normandie theatre in Paris, showcasing a lineup of prestigious films and talent.

Among the confirmed big-ticket titles are Francis Coppola’s latest film, “Megalopolis,” which will premiere in competition at the Palais on May 17. Additionally, Kevin Costner’s “Horizon: An American Saga” will debut out of competition as a world premiere. Fans can also look forward to George Miller’s sequel, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” scheduled for an out-of-comp slot. The film will hit French theaters on May 22, two days before its U.S. release.

The festival will kick off with Quentin Dupieux’s French-language comedy road movie, “Le Deuxième Acte” (“The Second Act”). Starring Léa Seydoux, Vincent Lindon, Louis Garrel, and Raphaël Quenard, the film will premier out of competition on May 14 at the Croisette.

With last year’s standout success “Barbie,” Greta Gerwig is set to lead this year’s main jury at Cannes. The prestigious festival is scheduled to run from May 14 to May 25, showcasing a diverse selection of films across various categories.

Some of the notable films in competition include “The Apprentice,” “Bird,” “Emilia Perez,” “Anora,” and “Megalopolis.” The lineup also features films like “Les Damnés,” “On Becoming a Guinea Fowl,” and “Viet and Nam,” among others.

In addition to the competition films, the festival will host midnight screenings, special screenings, and Cannes premieres, highlighting a wide range of cinematic talent and storytelling. The event promises to be a celebration of creativity and innovation in the world of filmmaking.
