ChatGPT Outage Chaos Continues: Google Gemini, Claude AI, and Perplexity AI Also Affected!

San Francisco, California – Users of OpenAI’s ChatGPT service faced disruptions as the platform experienced multiple outages on Tuesday. The service first encountered issues during the early hours of the day, followed by another major outage later in the afternoon. OpenAI acknowledged the problem on their status page, stating, “ChatGPT is unavailable for some users. We are currently investigating this issue.” Reports of problems flooded Downdetector around 10:30 AM ET, indicating widespread impact.

Many ChatGPT users, both on mobile apps and the web service, were unable to receive replies during the outage. However, OpenAI confirmed the resolution of the issue around 1:17 PM ET, bringing relief to affected users. At the same time, other AI tools such as Google Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude AI, and Perplexity AI web search experienced similar issues. Google Gemini quickly regained accessibility, while Claude AI and Perplexity AI announced their services were restored by 1:30 PM ET.

The ChatGPT service had previously faced a significant outage in November, lasting around 90 minutes and affecting OpenAI’s API services. However, this recent outage does not seem to have impacted the API. OpenAI disclosed that the November incident was due to a DDoS attack, highlighting the vulnerability of the platform to external threats. Additionally, a Microsoft outage in the previous month had also disrupted ChatGPT search features along with Microsoft’s Copilot service.

As OpenAI works to address these recurring outages and improve the reliability of ChatGPT, users remain cautious of potential disruptions to their AI-powered workflows. The company’s efforts to enhance the stability and security of its services will be crucial in maintaining trust among its user base. With the increasing reliance on AI tools for various tasks, ensuring uninterrupted access to these services is paramount for seamless operations in today’s digital landscape.
