The video, originally shared on Instagram by Colorado Rockies hitting coach Hensley Meulens, has sparked controversy due to regulations prohibiting passengers from accessing cockpit areas during flights.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is actively looking into the matter, with United Airlines confirming that two pilots have been suspended pending the outcome of their internal investigation. The incident occurred during a flight to Canada for a game between the Colorado Rockies and the Toronto Blue Jays on April 10th.
In the video, Mr. Meulens can be seen seated in one of the cockpit chairs, jokingly pretending to take control of the aircraft while announcing, “I’m going to land the plane tonight.” Although the video has since been deleted, it has raised significant safety concerns and prompted swift action from United Airlines.
