College student shot in the face on front porch

WYNNE, AR – A month has passed since a college student, Nevaeh Jones, was shot at her residence in Wynne, Arkansas. The attacker remains unidentified, with authorities continuously pursuing the individual responsible for the brutal shooting incident.

Jones recounts the chilling night of Jan. 28, 2024. She left home to fetch pizza for her family a little before 2 a.m. and was returning when the incident occurred. Surveillance footage from a Ring camera showcases Jones making her way back to her residence on Owens Street North.

The video clearly depicts Jones approaching her porch, pizza and car keys in hand. However, as soon as she attempted to unlock the screen door, an assailant started firing at her.

Despite the trauma, Jones was alert and had the presence of mind to keep track of the gunshots being fired due to her familiarity with the capacity of a gun clip.

According to Jones, she managed to keep conscious even after being hit seven times. The incident gravely injured her left eye, but she anticipates being able to walk again in about five months.

Nevaeh’s mother, Shanese Jones, was on the scene and immediately assisted her daughter inside and into safety. Despite this harrowing incident, Nevaeh Jones remains undeterred in her dreams of becoming a nurse.

According to the Wynne Police, the Arkansas State Police have joined in the ongoing search for the suspect. They urge anyone with information on the assailant to reach out to the police department.
