The siblings, born on September 18, 1961, were unique as their skulls were partially fused, sharing vital blood vessels and 30% of their brains. Guinness World Records confirmed their status as the oldest conjoined twins.
In 2007, George transitioned to a man, making Lori and George the world’s first conjoined twins to identify as different genders. Their rare condition, representing only 2-6% of all conjoined twinning cases, posed both physical and emotional challenges for the pair throughout their lives.
Despite their physical connection, Lori and George had distinct interests and careers. Lori was an award-winning bowler who also worked at a hospital laundromat, while George pursued a career as a country music singer, performing across the globe. The two even made a guest appearance on the medical drama “Nip/Tuck” as fictional conjoined twins.
From spending their first 24 years in a mental institution to living independently in their own residence since the age of 24, Lori and George navigated life with resilience and determination.
