Couple allegedly killed by police officer ex-boyfriend

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – A complex investigation is unfolding in Australia as law enforcement continues to search for the bodies of a couple allegedly murdered in Sydney one week ago by an antagonized former lover, who was also a police officer.

According to police, Jesse Baird, 26, a former television journalist, and Luke Davies, 29, a flight attendant, are believed to have been fatally shot at Baird’s residence in Paddington, an inner-Sydney suburb. Senior officer, Beau Lamarre-Condon, 28, was charged with the double homicide this past Friday. Lamarre-Condon ended a romantic relationship with Baird in late 2021.

Authorities suspect Lamarre-Condon disposed of the bodies, moving them via a rented van to a rural property in Bungonia, approximately 125 miles southwest of Sydney. After leaving an unwitting female companion on the property, Lamarre-Condon reportedly took the van onto the property, later returning alone. The woman, unaware of the circumstances, is currently cooperating with investigators.

Police indicate that Lamarre-Condon later returned to the location, armed with an angle grinder and weights obtained from a department store, allegedly used to submerge the bodies in a waterway.

Authorities are currently scouring multiple farm reservoirs within Bungonia to locate Baird and Davies’ remains.

The incidents leading to this case are under scrutiny as the bullet casings found at the crime scene match the service pistol Lamarre-Condon had in his possession. Due to Lamarre-Condon’s apparent use of his service firearm in the killings, law enforcement practices are now under review.

The discovery of the couple’s blood-stained possessions in a trash bin set 19 miles from the crime scene sparked suspicions of homicide. Initial doubt pointed towards Baird as the possible murderer after messages thought to be from Baird to his housemates circulated, indicating that he was relocating to Perth and asking them to store his possessions.

Reports suggest Lamarre-Condon sent the misleading messages after Davies’ killing.
