Crowded Hibachi restaurant turns into murder scene

BROCKTON, MA – A chilling surveillance video released by Massachusetts authorities on Saturday shows the fatal shooting of a man at a local hibachi restaurant, Hibachi Sushi Supreme Buffet. The incident took place on Friday and the victim was identified as 22-year-old Brockton resident, Joe Araujo.

The footage, released by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, features a hooded suspect entering the restaurant and approaching Araujo’s booth. The video also captures the presence of children and families in the restaurant at the time of the incident.

After the shooting, chaos ensued as customers were seen fleeing the restaurant and taking cover under tables. Araujo was quickly transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Law enforcement officials believe the attack was targeted and not a random act of violence. This assertion is based on the suspect’s direct approach towards Araujo’s booth, as shown in the video.

Local resident, John Monagle, expressed his shock and dismay at the incident, stating, “I mean, you bring a child out to dinner, and you don’t think something like that is gonna happen. I’ve never felt unsafe here.”

The Brockton Police Department is actively investigating the case and urges anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 508-941-0200.
