Dead body found stuffed in trash can

LOS ANGELES, CA – The discovery of a dead body inside of a trash can has instigated an investigation in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. The gruesome discovery was made by a resident of the Sunland neighborhood on Tuesday morning.

On Wentworth Street, between Sherman Grove and Oro Vista avenues, the homeowner discovered a fallen black trash bin, which he described as weighing more than usual.

Will Elliot, the homeowner, decided to report the sealed trash can after observing it was zip-tied shut and its serial number was scratched off. Initially, he contacted the non-emergency police line and then turned to the city when the bin remained unattended.

It wasn’t until gardeners working in the area noticed an unpleasant odor issuing from the bin that a neighbor was alerted and called 911, providing the authorities with adequate suspicion to inspect the contents of the bin. It was then that officials found the unidentified body of a woman believed to be in her 30s or 40s.

Authorities are yet to make any arrests in relation to the incident. Further information about the woman’s identity and how her body ended up in a trash can is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
