DORAL, FLORIDA – A deadly shooting erupted at a Miami-Dade shopping center early Saturday morning, resulting in two fatalities, including the gunman, and seven others injured. The incident occurred at the Martini Bar in CityPlace Doral, where a dispute among patrons escalated into gunfire.
According to authorities, a security guard intervened in the altercation, leading to a patron pulling out a gun and fatally shooting the security officer. Subsequently, the rest of the security team engaged in a gunfight with the suspect, resulting in the suspect’s death. In the crossfire, six additional individuals were wounded, including two women, four men, and a Doral Police officer who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
During a press conference, law enforcement officials revealed that two victims were in critical condition and rushed to trauma centers, while the others, including the injured officer, were reported to be in stable condition. The injured officer, a four-year veteran of the force, applied a tourniquet during the chaotic incident.
Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez emphasized the importance of prior training for mass casualty incidents, noting that officers had undergone extensive training at the location a year before. Doral Mayor Christi Fraga expressed her condolences for the victims and their families, commending the swift response of law enforcement officers.
