DiSandro’s Eagles Promotions: No Access or Protection from Sideline Banishment

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – The Philadelphia Eagles have recently promoted Dom DiSandro to a new title, adding to his responsibilities as senior advisor to the General Manager and chief security officer. However, this new title, “gameday coaching operations,” does not grant him any additional privileges on the field or in interactions with opposing players.

Following an incident during a Week 13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers where DiSandro was involved in an altercation and made contact with a 49ers player, the Eagles have faced speculation that this promotion is a way to distance DiSandro from any disciplinary actions. The team, however, has denied these claims and clarified that his new title does not grant him any new access or rights in such situations.

In a memo sent out to all teams on September 13, 2023, it was made clear that non-player personnel are prohibited from engaging in unnecessary physical contact or using abusive language or gestures towards opponents, game officials, or League representatives. Any violations could result in disqualification or disciplinary action by the Commissioner.

The league further emphasized the rules in another memo on December 6, 2023, stating that all non-player personnel, including security officers like DiSandro, are prohibited from making physical contact, taunting, or using abusive language towards players or officials. In the event of an altercation, club personnel are instructed to allow coaches and game officials to handle the situation, with penalties assessed as necessary.

Despite his new title, the rules remain the same for DiSandro. Any violation of the league’s guidelines could result in further consequences, potentially leading to a more severe punishment given his history and position within the organization. The promotion reflects a higher level of trust and responsibility but does not exempt him from the rules set forth by the NFL.
