Disney Fans Rejoice: Airbnb Unveils Floating “Up” House Replica in New Mexico

Abiquiu, New Mexico is now home to a dream destination for Disney fans – an Airbnb replica of the iconic house featured in the 2009 animated film “Up.” This unique rental property offers guests the opportunity to stay in a house that mirrors the floating home of the main character, Carl Fredricksen, in the movie.

The house, designed to resemble the one from the film, features one bedroom, one bathroom, and a pull-out bed in the living room, accommodating up to four guests. While the original house in the movie floats with the help of balloons, Airbnb’s replica appears to be lifted into the air using a crane. The interior of the house is meticulously detailed, with elements like armchairs, a motorized chair going up the stairs, helium canisters, and the adventure book created by Carl’s wife faithfully recreated.

In an effort to enhance the guest experience, the Airbnb listing is written from the perspective of Carl, inviting visitors to embark on wilderness adventures and explore nature in the peaceful surroundings of Abiquiu. Renters can participate in activities to earn Junior Wilderness Explorer badges, such as creating their own adventure books and going on small excursions.

The recreation of the “Up” house is part of Airbnb’s Icon series, which offers guests unique rental properties and experiences. In addition to the Up house, guests can also book stays in replicants of Prince’s home from the film “Purple Rain,” the Ferrari museum in Maranello, Italy, and the Musée d’Orsay, where they can witness the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics.

To secure a stay at one of these special rentals, interested individuals can submit a request along with a compelling reason for wanting to stay at the location of their choice. Entries are randomly selected, and guests are chosen based on the answers provided. The Icon series by Airbnb aims to provide guests with unforgettable and immersive experiences in extraordinary locations around the world.
