Westchester County, NY – A new luxury airline, BARK Air, is now offering first-class flights for dogs of all sizes out of Westchester County Airport, providing a stress-free and comfortable travel experience for man’s best friend. This innovative airline, created by the dog toy brand BARK, has partnered with a jet charter service to ensure that dogs and their owners can travel “in comfort and style” without the typical hassles associated with flying with pets. CEO Matt Meeker stated in a video from Reuters that BARK Air aims to provide a “dog-first” experience, differentiating itself by offering a pampering experience tailored to dogs.
BARK Air operates flights from Westchester County Airport to Biggin Hill Airport in London and Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles. The airline’s flights are not your typical pet travel experience – tickets start at $6,000 for domestic flights and $8,000 for international flights. Passengers flying with BARK Air can expect a seamless check-in process that bypasses TSA screenings, as well as the opportunity for dogs to socialize with fellow passengers before the flight. Additionally, humans will be served meals prepared by airport chefs.
In addition to a unique travel experience, BARK Air offers a range of amenities to ensure dogs’ comfort and well-being during the flight. Flight attendants are specially trained to cater to dogs’ needs, and a “Dogs Fly First” routine at the beginning of each flight includes soothing music, scents, and colors to reduce canine anxiety. Dogs will also receive noise-canceling earmuffs, anxiety jackets, and plenty of treats to keep them at ease throughout the journey.
During takeoff and landing, dogs can enjoy a special beverage to help alleviate ear pressure, and they will even be treated to a spa experience 3,000 feet in the air. Each flight accommodates 15 dogs and their humans, with a maximum of 10 tickets sold per flight to allow ample space for the dogs to move around freely. Notably, children are not permitted on BARK Air flights, and all passengers must be at least 18 years old.
