Dune: Part Two Storms International Box Office with $7.6M Debut – France and Korea Leading the Way!

Paris, France – Warner Bros/Legendary Entertainment’s highly anticipated Dune: Part Two has made a powerful debut at the international box office. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the sequel began its overseas release in 13 markets, earning $5.2 million on its first day, making it the number one Hollywood film in each market. With previews included, the film has brought in $7.6 million overseas.

On its opening day in France, Dune: Part Two has garnered a cume of $2.3 million, including previews. Audiences have rated the film 4.5 out of 5 stars on Allociné, with critics giving it a 4.1 rating. The film’s performance is on par with The Batman, surpassing Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One by 27%, Villeneuve’s 2021 Dune by 44%, and Oppenheimer by 63%. Imax admissions are 65% higher than Oppenheimer, making Dune: Part Two’s start even more significant in Imax than Avatar: The Way of Water.

In South Korea, Dune 2 opened at number two with $1.2 million, standing out as the biggest opening day for star Timothée Chalamet and director Villeneuve. The film’s performance was 108% above the original Dune and 385% higher than Blade Runner 2049. It also marked the biggest Imax opening day for a Warner Bros title, grossing $2.1 million through Thursday.

Taiwan also saw Dune 2 capture a 62% market share on its opening day with $892K, making it the biggest opening day for Villeneuve and Chalamet. The film outperformed Oppenheimer by 107%, The Batman by 172%, and Dune Part One by 229%.

Italy showed strong support for Dune 2, giving it a 58% share of the top five films on its opening day. The film’s advance ticket sales have been promising, and it has received positive feedback from both critics and fans.

In Sweden, Dune: Part Two came out strong with an early start of $546,000, dominating with a 74% share of the top five films. Imax contributed 12% of the box office revenue, surpassing all comparisons.

The film is set to release in 42 more markets on Thursday, including Germany, Australia, and all of Latin America, with an additional 16 markets opening on Friday. By the end of the weekend, Dune: Part Two will be available in a total of 71 markets.
