BELDEN, California – Two earthquakes centered near the small town of Belden rattled Northern California on Thursday evening, causing tremors felt across the region. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) website, a preliminary 4.5 magnitude earthquake followed by a preliminary 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck just after 6:30 p.m. with one earthquake reaching a depth of about six miles. A third earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 2.9, hit around 7 p.m.

Reports indicate that residents in North Auburn and West Sacramento experienced the shaking from the earthquakes.
