Eleven-year-old girl shot in the head during drive-by shooting

DETROIT, MI – In a tragic development on Friday, police sources confirmed that an 11-year-old girl, a victim of Tuesday morning’s drive-by shooting, has succumbed to her injuries in Detroit. Following Lamara Glenn’s unfortunate passing, authorities expect to revise the charges against the three accused. Tahkari Turner, 18, Robert Lee Turner Jr., 20, and Nasir Lavant Garrett, 19, confront several charges. These charges range from assault with intent to murder to felony firearms possession.

Detroit Police Chief James White pointed out the dire consequences of the trio’s reckless actions. “That was a ridiculous decision, and now they get to be the living example on what happens when you make those decisions because they are going to spend the rest of their lives in prison if convicted,” said White, indicating a potential gang activity link to the incident.

Officials first responded to a call at around 4:12 a.m. on Feb. 20 about a shooting that took place in the 6000 block of Pennsylvania Street. The initial investigation discovered Glenn with critical gunshot injuries to her head. According to the prosecution, Turner and Garrett allegedly fired multiple shots into the property, striking the sleeping victim on the couch.

Several others, including a 43-year-old woman, a 38-year-old man, an 18-year-old man, a 16-year-old girl, a 12-year-old girl, another 11-year-old girl, an 8-year-old girl, and a 7-year-old girl were also present within the residence during the shooting. They thankfully escaped physical harm, contrary to earlier reports from the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

After intensive investigations, Detroit police arrested Tahkari Turner and Garrett the same day, followed by Robert Turner on Feb. 21. The activity in this particular home has drawn the ire of Detroit activist Malik Shabazz, who condemned the incident and highlighted the victim’s innocent childhood. Shabazz stated, “An 11-year-old child ought to be able to sleep in peace. Us grown folks need to stop being children into our nonsense.”
