Estate of Anne Heche in Limbo: $6 Million in Claims Pending!

Los Angeles, California – Nearly two years after the tragic passing of actress Anne Heche, her estate is still facing challenges as outstanding creditor claims remain unresolved.

Heche, known for her roles in films like “Six Days, Seven Nights,” tragically passed away on August 11 due to inhalation and thermal injuries in an accident. The LA County Department of Medical Examiner ruled her death as accidental.

Court documents reveal that over $6 million in creditor claims are lingering on Heche’s estate. Her oldest son, Homer Heche Laffoon, who is the administrator of the estate, remains hopeful that the claims can be settled fairly without resorting to litigation.

Efforts are underway to sell off personal property with the help of James Tupper, the father of Heche’s youngest son, Atlas. They also plan to liquidate the remaining tangible items through an estate sale company. A book project titled “Call Me Anne,” initiated before Heche’s death, has already been published but is not expected to generate significant income.

Several significant claims have been filed against the estate, including $149,106.04 by Heche’s ex-boyfriend, Thomas Jane, and $36,131.35 by Citibank. The West Hills Hospital & Medical Center has also submitted a $1,838 claim, while the State of California Franchise Tax Board filed a claim for $362.

One of the substantial claims against the estate is from Lynne Mishele, the woman whose home Heche’s vehicle crashed into in 2022, requesting $2 million. Additionally, the original owners of the Mar Vista house, Jennifer and John Durand, have individually filed $2 million claims against the estate.

The collision caused by Heche, driving a blue Mini Cooper, resulted in a fire that required 59 firefighters over 65 minutes to extinguish. One individual was rescued and hospitalized in critical condition following the incident.

As the process to settle the estate continues, the Durands have already sold their home in Mar Vista, which has been rebuilt and is now listed for sale at $1.35 million. The renovated property now features upgrades like a new exterior cedar picket fence, a chefs’ kitchen, and vaulted ceilings.

Despite the challenges faced by Heche’s estate, the hope is that the creditor claims can be managed effectively without prolonged legal battles, allowing for a resolution that honors the late actress’s legacy.
