Ex-cop killed by teen driver in deadly crash

MESA, AZ – An unexpected disaster struck Mesa highway late March 12, when an 18-year-old, Rachel Berg collided with a motorcycle at an excessive speed. The teen was speedily driving her new Chevy Corvette when the crash took place, causing the motorcyclist’s immediate demise. The motorcycle was ridden by Michael Clark, a 46-year-old former police officer from Tacoma, Washington, who was serving as a park ranger in Tempe.

Following the collision, Clark was forcefully ejected from his motorcycle, and despite Berg’s subsequent attempts to provide CPR, he succumbed to his injuries on the spot. In the aftermath, Berg informed the officers that she couldn’t halt her car before hitting the motorcycle.

Data from the Corvette’s airbag control module exposed that Berg had been driving at a staggering speed of 155 mph seconds before the crash and was at 87 mph when she collided with the motorcycle.

Berg faced arrest on Monday on charges of reckless manslaughter. Laura Clark, the grieving wife of Michael Clark, cries for justice for her fallen husband. Laura explained her unsettling intuition about his late arrival at home the night of the accident.

Laura described her husband as a devoted public servant with a passion for community service. After a 14-year tenure as a police officer in Tacoma, he took on the role of a park ranger in Tempe six months prior.

Expressing her distress over the mayhem caused by rash driving, especially among teenagers, Laura highlighted the catastrophic effect on her family, leaving them to navigate through life without their beloved husband and father.

At the same time, Berg’s family also grapples with the repercussions of the unfortunate event.
