Explosion Rocks Youngstown, Ohio – 1 Dead, 7 Injured! Police Urging People to Avoid Area

Youngstown, Ohio – A tragic explosion in downtown Youngstown has resulted in one fatality and left seven individuals injured, one of them critically, according to officials. The incident, which occurred near Central Square on Tuesday afternoon, has prompted authorities to advise people to stay away from the area.

The cause of the explosion is currently unknown, although it affected a building housing a Chase bank and apartments. Although initially characterized as a natural gas explosion by Youngstown Fire Chief Barry Finley, the possibility of a gas leak is being investigated.

Mercy Health has reported treating seven individuals injured in the blast, with one person in critical condition. Tragically, the body of a bank employee was discovered at the site, prompting a search for his vehicle by the police.

As rescue efforts continue, with search teams working to navigate a flooded basement using mini-drones, the building has been evacuated. Streets in the vicinity have been closed due to concerns of a potential structural collapse, authorities have stated.

A spokesperson for Chase bank has assured that the company is actively working with local officials to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Despite the absence of any suspicious activity, investigations into the cause are ongoing.
